Shall be familiar with the Constitution, Code of Ethics and Oath of Confidentiality of Watari Counselling and Support Services and thereby subscribe to its philosophies, standards and objectives. This job description is subject to change depending on the needs of the agency.
Shall maintain a working knowledge of the Watari Policy and Procedures Manual.
This position (1.0 fte) requires strong boundaries and communication skills, an ability to work independently, manage deadlines, acute knowledge of youth services system and the issues affecting the at risk and street youth population. This position also requires someone who is able to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and is able to adapt to changing situations on the job. This position will be based at the downtown site and may spend some time working from other community based locations as deemed appropriate.
The position reports directly to the Youth Teams Liaison Supervisor
Responsibilities
· Provide community outreach services and advocacy support to youth in the DTES
· Provides honest, respectful client centered care and develops trusting alliances with participants
· Provide one-on-one support to identify and access appropriate community resources that are barriers for youth
· Order and pack up harm reduction supplies and keep outreach supplies up to date
· Provide crisis intervention
· Attend community meetings and events relevant to youth in this community
· Work collaboratively with different professionals and as a member of a team
· Participate in, and have a practical understanding of integrated case planning
· Prepare reports and document daily activity as required
· Maintain accurate petty cash receipts, time sheets, records and reports
Maintain Vehicle as required
Pick up weekly donations
Supports, facilitates and partners with other organizations to welcome youth into the Cultural Connections programming
Accountability
Provide receipts, time sheets and all other agency forms in a timely manner
Attend Reconnect and DTES planning table meetings as appropriate
Attend supervision meetings as required
Attend staff meetings as required
Participate in agency in-service training as applicable

Qualifications

Minimum CYCC diploma or:

Related Extensive Experience working with at risk youth

Ability to engage and motivate hard-to-reach youth

Conflict resolution and mediation skills

Knowledge of youth issues

Sound problem-solving skills

Ability to work under pressure, independently, and with minimal supervision

Ability to work as an effective and cooperative team member

A valid BC driver’s license class 5 an asset

Job Type: Full-time and part time

Salary: $23.00 per hour
