Research Lab Technician

(Boston)

55 Fruit Street

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT
The Charles lab is seeking a full-time research technician at MGH. Focus of the Charles lab is the evaluation of host-pathogen interactions and immune responses during human infection with Vibrio cholerae (the cause of cholera) and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi (the cause of typhoid fever). We study immune responses to these pathogens, with overall goal to better understand the development of protective immunity against these pathogens and to identify novel antigens for vaccine and diagnostic assay development. The position in the lab will include working with an internationally recognized, highly collaborative, and multidisciplinary team of investigators from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health with international collaborators in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Nepal.

Research technicians collaborating with our group frequently go on to pursue careers in medicine or pursue graduate degrees in microbiology or immunology.

Please note: this position is based in Boston and does not involve international travel.

Also, given the specialized nature of our research methodology, we ask our research technicians to make a two-year commitment.
