Job Description:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, dismantling, assembling, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment used in the process of manufacturing and converting corrugated board. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all equipment runs properly and meets operational and specification requirements. Ensures optimal production, quality and safety functions are met in alignment with our internal customer’s expectations. Hours include 1st, 2nd, & graveyard shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform diagnostic testing, if applicable, and troubleshoot repair of equipment and component failures. Start equipment and observe mechanical operation to detect root cause of mechanical failure. Follow all LOTO procedures and health/safety rules for each machine center. Calibrates equipment, electronically and mechanically. Back up other Maintenance shifts/positions as needed. Rotating Saturdays, as needed for production.
• Oversee and perform daily housekeeping duties in maintenance shop. Maintain and cleanup work area after repair or install has been completed.
• Support the work order requests of the Safety Committee. May serve on the Safety Committee.
• Contact equipment manufacturer or vendor for technical support assistance and parts.
• Perform parts, machine and equipment repair and installation including bearings, gears, power transmission, springs, belt drives, chain drives, conveyors, electric motors, machine controls, DC motors, solenoids, timers/counters, conductors, motor drive systems, fluid systems, hydraulic components/systems, pneumatic components, press brakes, robotics, circuit boards, switches, circuits, PLC’s, etc. Perform work in accordance with all known manufacturers’ specifications and guidelines.

• Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Blue Print and Schematics – Ability to read and interpret blue prints, diagrams, and schematic drawings (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
• Service Orientation – Sense of urgency in maintaining and repair machinery and equipment in a timely manner.
• Computer – Familiar with basic functions of clocking in and out of Enterprise System. Create work orders in CMMS system, via computer or mobile app.
• Mathematics – Knowledge of industrial math including arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. Ability to calculate length, area, volume, mass and temperature and measurement conversion.
• Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
• Ability to drive a forklift and aerial lift.

• Associate degree in mechanical technology or related field, or; at least 2 years of related experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of corrugated, converting machines and ancillary equipment used in packaging and display manufacturing operations including their designs, uses, how to repair and maintain.
• Knowledge of forces of machines and the physical forces behind machine functions. Understanding the different types of forces, the physical laws that define them, and the ways in which they are measured. This includes the ability to distinguish between contact and non-contact forces, linear and rotary motion, speed and velocity, and scalar and vector quantities.
• Knowledge of mechanical power variables of mechanical power including speed, power, torque, horsepower, and mechanical forces. The ability to determine which power components are most suitable for specific operations, evaluate machine efficiency, and determine when machine components should be replaced. Familiarity with power variables and their effects can help to prevent machine downtime and component failure.
