As a Casual In-Home Youth Care Worker (On-Call) for our therapeutic home in Marpole, South Vancouver. You will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to at-risk youth with mental health issues, behavioural challenges, and/or substance use. We are looking for candidates who are available for 24-hour shifts (generally 3pm-3pm or similar, which includes time to sleep at night). Casual short shifts are also available as well but must be prepared to work 24 hour shifts as needed. Start as part time casual with potential for full time.
The job pays tax free so factor no taxes on your pay. It will be direct amount of $250 to $300 per shift. This is a very great opportunity for university student in a similar field of child welfare or social work. Meals are provided each shift.
-Ability to meet our Relief/Casual Team Guidelines and Expectations which includes providing at least 2 shifts of availability on the weekends, availability on holidays, and for and on-call shifts
-High school diploma
-Experience working with at-risk youth with mental health and behavioural challenges (or desire to learn)
-Knowledge of the criminal justice system
-Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check
-Clear and concise written and verbal communication
-Minimum Class 7N BC Driver’s License (Class 5 preferred) and acceptable driving record
-Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority
-Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
-Building positive working relationships with the youth, their families, community members, and other professionals (e.g. social workers, probation officers)
-Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
-Driving youth to and from appointments, school, outings, etc.
-Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting and maintaining appropriate limits
-Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans
-Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication
-Salary: $250-$300 per shift
