Our events team is looking for a ceremonies manager to oversee podium and awards at RBC GranFondo Whistler on September 10, 2022.
A description of the role:
RBC GranFondo Whistler is a mass-participation cycling event taking place between Vancouver and Whistler (Sept 10, 2022 – rbcgranfondo.com/whistler). Several thousand riders are expected to attend. In the afternoon, an awards ceremony takes place that celebrations the top 3 finishers in multiple categories including individuals and teams.
The Ceremonies Manager is responsible for liaising with our timing company on-site and phoning / wrangling the winning participants in time for the awards ceremony, as well as working with the Events team to ensure the MC has correct rider information to call on stage. Approx 80 riders will be required to be wrangled.
The Ceremonies Manager also is responsible for hiring an assistant who will help them on the day (we will cover them with an honorarium; remuneration details below).
Key skills required:
– Ability to work well under time pressure
– Strong communication skills
– Self starter with initiative
– Problem solver
– An interest in cycling or previous experience in events is considered an asset.
Hours required: 5 (9am – 2pm)
Ceremonies Manager $250
Ceremonies Assistant $150
As the event takes place in Whistler, transportation will be arranged from Vancouver and back again on the Saturday if required.
